We have not offered anyone to become PM: Oli

KATHMANDU, March 5: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that they have not asked anyone to become their prime ministerial candidate.

Addressing a function organized to officially sign the three-point agreement reached between the government and the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) in the capital on Friday, Prime Minister Oli said that they are not ready to offer someone from the opposition party to become the prime minister by dissolving the government led by their own party.

Oli said that there were attempts to spread rumors among the people. “We won’t offer anyone the post of prime minister in an inappropriate manner. We have not made a proposal for anyone to become the prime minister, either,” he said.

Prime Minister Oli’s remarks come in the wake of Nepali Congress(NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba revealing in the party’s office bearers’ meeting that both factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had offered him to become the prime minister of the country.

The main opposition party is preparing to register a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Oli in parliament. The motion is expected to be backed by Janata Samajbadi Party and the rival faction of the NCP led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal.
