On Thursday, authorities have seized illegal temper from two different locations of Kailali district.
According to Prakash Joshi, Assistant Forest Officer at Rampur Subdivision Office, Bauniya, authorities seized five logs along with bicycles used in ferrying them in Lamkichuha Municipality-10. However, the timber smugglers fled the scene.
Similarly, Bauniya Area Police Officer arrested a local, Sitaram Chaudhary, and seized two logs hidden inside his house at Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-2 in the district.
Police, after the preliminary investigation, found that Chaudhary had smuggled the timber from Shanti Community Forest.
Police have handed Chaudhary and the confiscated timber to the subdivision office for further investigation.
The seized logs from both locations measure up to 40 cubic feet, informed Rampur Subdivision Office
