Senior journalist Durga Nath Sharma passed away Wednesday morning at the age 72.He was suffering from some heart problems.
According to Nepal Television (NTV), Sharma breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Manamohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center in Kathmandu.He was shifted from Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre on Tuesday.
Sharma was one of the first television journalists in the country. He read the news and presented a few other news-based programmes on Nepal Television from its establishment in 1985 for more than 25 years.
Sharma was former general manager of the NTV in which he had been running ‘Bishwa Ghatana’ (World Affairs), a popular TV show. He also worked at the Gorkhapatra Corporation.
He is survived by wife and two sons.
