Preparation for Chhath festival has begun at Guhyeswori in Pashupati area with the end of Tihar festival – the second grand festival of Nepali Hindus.
Guhyeswori Chhath Pooja Committee has begun preparation such as erecting bamboo and decoration. All preparations will be completed by November 1, said the Rambabu Mahaseth, chairperson of the committee.
According to Rambabu Mahaseth, chairperson of the committee informed that 450 Chhath celebration sites were set up last year while this year it is to exceed to 656 sites. Out of the then, Chhath revelers have occupied more than 300 stalls.
Of late people from mountainous region have started offering worships to the sun on Chhath festival. Annually over 100,000 people have celebrated Chhath festival in Guheswori.
Kathmandu people also have started celebrating the Chhat, the special festival of Terai, for over a decade.
