Police lobbed 10 rounds of tear gas canisters to contain the situation after a clash broke out between two groups in Benauli village of Pachaurata Municipality, Bara on Monday.
According to DSP at Bara District Police Office, Ranjeet Singh Rathore, locals of Beldari Tol and Benauli clashed when the former tried to stop the latter while they were on their way to submit a memorandum to Pachaurata Municipality. The locals Beldari have been demanding that the ongoing work to construct a hospital in their village should not be stopped while the residents of Benauli have been demanding that hospital should be constructed at the Centre of the municipality.
DSP Rathore said police fired teargas shells after the clash between the two groups turned violent. He said a few people were injured in the clash but their number and identity has not been established.
Locals of the two villages have been at odds for the past one month over the location for the construction of a hospital in the municipality.
