Lucky Sherpa resigns

Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia Lucky Sherpa handed over her resignation to the co-chairpersons of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, on Monday.

According to sources, Oli and Dahal called her to Baluwatar and sought her resignation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been investigating allegations of human trafficking against her.

Sherpa was appointed Ambassador to Australia during PM Oli’s first term in 2015. Her former driver Wongchhu Sherpa had accused Sherpa and her husband of collecting money from people with the promise of safe passage to Australia.
