Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government was serious towards finding out the culprit (s) of Nirmala Pant rape and murder case.
Responding to the questions raised by children at the ‘PM with children’ event organised by Nepal Scouts here Tuesday, the Prime Minister said, “Police are searching for the culprit (s) of Nirmala Pant rape and murder case. They will be booked soon.”
Saying that the investigation is going on by forming a high-level probe committee, he said, “Nepal Police will find out the culprit (s) by carrying out thorough investigation. I have been directing the Nepal Police time and again to find out the culprit (s) at the earliest.”
During the programme, PM Oli admitted that police officers had done mistakes during the initial investigation into the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant in Kanchanpur, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said.
Body of Nirmala was found on a sugarcane field in Bhimdutta Municipality of Kanchanpur on July 27, a day after she was reported missing.
Meanwhile, PM Oli emphasized on the need to ensure happiness in the face of the new generation.
He further said, “People should be free of hunger. Nobody should succumb to cold. Society needs to be equitable.”
