Government has finalised the list of medical centres for migrants

The government has finalised the list of 51 health and medical institutions that have now been authorised to conduct the health check-up of Nepali migrant workers aspiring to go for foreign employment.

Publishing a final list today, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS) informed that from now on, Nepali migrant workers who want to travel to Malaysia or other foreign destinations will be able to get their health check-up certificates through such centres.

Meanwhile, MoLESS has mentioned that the list of health check-up centres was drafted especially for Malaysia-bound workers where there was a dispute earlier due to the monopoly of some health check-up centres since long.

The government has finalised the list of these health check-up institutions on the basis of the Malaysian government’s new health standard guideline that clarifies the medical requirements for the migrant workers.

Among them, 28 are located in the Kathmandu Valley and the remaining are based in other districts.

The supply of Nepali workers to Malaysia has been halted since May last year after the government cracked down on Immigration Security Clearance and One Stop Centre that had been levying additional charges on Nepali migrants for obtaining the health certificates.
