Electricity wire has been instaled with the help of drones to connect the electricity produced from the rivers of Taplejung, Panchthar and Ilam with the main transmission line along the third section of the Kabeli corridor.
The drones were brought by technicians from China. The wire is being instaled on 29 to 37 towers along the corridor. A team of four technicians along with drones had reached Hilihang Rural Municipality of Panchthar on Friday.
Garja Man Magar, a local at the rural municipality, said the scene was so beautiful to look at as the drones took the wire crossing Tamor Khola and Khayar jungle and kept it on the hands of workers who were on the top of the towers. “I heard that a helicopter-like-machine took the wire from the land and placed it on the hands of the workers magically,” he added.
Rajan Basnet, a technician, said the technology would not only save time and expenditure but also ensure safety and security while instaling the wire at risky places.
There are three sections in the Kabeli corridor that connect Kabeli with Kerkha of Jhapa, Godak of Ilam, Phidim of Panchthar and the border area of Taplejung. Of them, the work has been completed at Phidim of Panchthar and electricity has already been connected to the central transmission line.
