Corruption case filed against DSP

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today filed a corrption case against DSP Shyam Kumar Rai at the Special Court.

DSP Rai, in-charge at Bouddha-based Metropolitan Police Circle, has been suspended upon filing of the case.

The CIAA had arrested him red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 140,000 from a local businessman on October 6.

DSP Rai had made the service-seeker pay the bill of a television set he bought for his office. Joint Secretary Rameshwor Dangal, CIAA spokesperson, said DSP Rai had committed an offence referred to in Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 and the anti-graft body sought punishment for him accordingly.
