This morning near Sukedhara Chowk bus hit a student prompting a group of students to take to the streets and set a vehicle on fire.
According to Deputy Superintendent Hobindra Bogati, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, 21-year-old Shristi panta of Gorkha was seriously injured when she was hit by the bus with the registration number Ba 4 Kha 5920, early this morning while she was crossing the road.
Shristi, a Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS ) student at the Pashupati Campus, later died in course of treatment at the Om Hospital, according to the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala. Police have arrested the driver.
The Pashupati Campus students enraged by the death of their colleague in the accident torched the bus involved in the accident. The vehicle was partially damaged in the fire. Following the accident, traffic at Chabahil, Sukedhara and Mitrapark area was disrupted for sometimes.
