Activists seeking justice for Nirmala arrested from outside President’s office

Police have arrested activists following a protest outside the President’s office in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on Thursday.

The activists had organised a protest demanding justice to 13-year-old Nirmala Pant of Kanchanpur who was raped and murdered some four months ago.

According to the police, 12 persons were arrested following the protest and are being kept at the Metropolitan Police Circle office in Maharajgunj.

The protesters, sporting headscarves with ‘Ma Nirmala’ (I’m Nirmala) written on it, had chanted slogans demanding justice to the victim of the crime.

Police informed that the arrested demonstrators were of the same group who have been organising protests at Maitighar Mandala along with posters that says ‘Sarkar Bhettiyo, Nyaya Bhettiyena’ (Found the government but could not find justice).
