14 killed in Baglung jeep accident

14 people have lost their lives when the jeep they were travelling on fell below the road to  Devisthan of Nisikhola Rural Municipality from Gulmi district met  with an accident at Badigaad Rural Municipality of Baglung district, today.

The jeep numbered Ga 1 Ja 5219 had skidded off the Mid-hill highway and fell down from Kopche Bhir.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipak Regmi, Among them, nine are women, four men and one child.

Thamman Bahadur Reshmi, official of Badigadh Rural Municipality, informed that 14 persons died on the spot. Three, who sustained injuries, have been taken to local first-aid centres.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 am when the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 5219) en route to Burtibang of Baglung from Gulmi district fell about 500 metres below the road into Badigaad river in Bhimgithe of Badigaad-7. It has been reported that the jeep was carrying relatives who were headed for a family worship.

According to police,Rescue operations are presently going on and further investigation into the incident is going on.
